Foods we look for on the internet

More and more food products searched for on the internet are larger. Specifically, searches only for consumer brands, the increase is 6% per year. This is how a study published by the consultancy raw agency.

The brands of sweet foods and cookies stand out in a special way, with searches of 32,6%. In addition to searches for sweets, those for coffee, cocoa and infusions also stand out. According to the CEO and founder of Raw Agency, Rebeca Toribio, "These data are correlated with the demand of the brands, that is, they suggest that this type of 'unhealthy' brand is increasing its turnover this 2022."

Internet and the pandemic

The pandemic has also influenced online food searches. Products that had a large increase at the beginning of the pandemic have now fallen. This is the case of preserves, which suffered a 15,7% drop in searches. "Everything points to the fact that the initial fear of shortages that we saw at the dawn of this event has ended up dissipating, placing interest in this category of food at pre-pandemic levels”, explains Rebeca Toribio.

The third group of foods that you increase your searches on the internet are oils, spices and sauces. In the fourth group on the rise we find the dairy group such as milk and yogurt. The groups with the highest promotion coincide in which the websites have worked on their content that they provide on their website.

Social networks and internet food searches

An element that is being key in these searches on the network are social networks. Facebook continues to be the most used network, with Instagram clearly increasing as a reference social network. For its part, the new social network Tik Tok is clearly on the rise, especially in products aimed at a younger audience. All this many times, with the support and promotion of influencers.
